Sandra Maurer Kelly’s practice consists of litigation, both for plaintiffs and defendants.  She has successfully represented clients in jury and non-jury trials in Ohio, California, and in federal and state courts throughout the Great Lakes region.  She also counsels clients on probate and estate matters and has handled estates of a magnitude which require estate tax considerations.

In addition to handling maritime cases related to the Jones Act, LHWCA and other shipping-related matters, she is a FINRA arbitrator, hearing cases related to breaches of securities law.  She has acted as a legal commentator for the local Fox8 News affiliate and has spoken on maritime and collection issues.  She has been recognized as a Proctor in Admiralty by the Maritime Law Association of the United States and has received the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Sandy is a published author for various Thomson West trial manuals, serves on the boards of several non-profit institutions and has been a longtime member of a judicial rating coalition whose mission is to elect qualified individuals to the Ohio judiciary.  In Legus, an international network of law firms, she serves on the marketing committee and is a past Advisory Committee Chair.

• Represented shipowner in a one-week jury trial in a personal injury case brought by a longshoreman in federal court in Hammond, Indiana, in 2009, settled while on appeal
• More than 30 trials related to personal injury, wrongful death and maritime-related casualties
